my name is ashley, if you didn’t know…

Years ago I learned about minimalism and it totally changed the direction of my life. It was a turning point where I made the decision to live with less to find more peace and joy in life. I was living at my parent’s house, in my childhood bedroom, full of everything I grew up with. Well, like a lot of people, I did one declutter and thought I was done. Turns out I only got rid of 0.1% of the stuff I needed to remove. I learned very quickly that this would be an ongoing journey, not just a “one-stop shop”.

When I was entering motherhood I knew that it would be a difficult time because babies need stuff. A lot of stuff. There wasn’t much information out there on how to become a mother minimally so I went to my tried and true rule of just analyzing social norms and seeing if they’re really necessary or if I’m supposed to have them just to have them. I’m still learning a lot about motherhood and what products are worth the space, but with every bad purchase, I learn a lesson I can share with you.

Minimalism is an ongoing journey of reassessing your needs and reprioritizing belongings depending on that state of life. So even when you think you’re done decluttering, life can develop and change your needs. I’m definitely not perfect, but I truly believe that I only have what I deem essential to my life. My hope is that I can help you find your “essential” to free up mental and physical space in your home and enjoy the beauty that is motherhood.
